Hello internet lovlies!

I will begin with honesty. This is a fledgling attempt to market myself. I also want this weekly admission of how much or how little work I accomplish to keep me accountable and on track, or at least guilt me to get something done on Wednesday to put in a post by Thursday.
THE GOAL: Blog every Thursday and have something significant to say every week. Thursday has been the day I tend to get lucky on anyway.

So, to bring ya'll up to speed
I moved to Los Angeles, California in August 2012. Since August I have worked at Urban Outfitters (for about a month), and at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (which took over my life and I just left) and now my survival job is SoulCycle-Front Desk Staff. Soul has given me the freedom to have time to do marketing things (like this blog) but also watch a lot more Netflix. I am starting to feel the pressure to really crack down and get things done, thus this blog is born.

Accomplishments since arriving:
*A few student films--Won best actress at Campus Movie Fest UCLA for Slipchain
*Taking Casting Director workshops at Act Now! -- Tineka Becker, Ty Harman and Lisa Zambetti
*Auditing Howard Fine's wonderfully...expensive class and praying manna from heaven would rain down and I would be able to sell if for enough money to pay for the class...it didn't.
*Singing in a few lounges
*Tonight I did my first agent showcase with Aqua Talent--it went well, but I'm not expecting a call.

Goals:
*New head shots by April
*Signed up for an acting class to stretch my muscles by April

Fun anecdote:
Today I got a call from Mantis and Moon productions in Ohio. The man asked if I remembered auditioning for them (December 2011) and I said I did and then he asked if I would be interested in being a jury member on March 17th in a film they are shooting. I was pleasantly surprised they called. I did not get cast in what I originally auditioned for, but the lesson here is to win the office and they will call you for a future project...even if you are 2,000 miles away.

Also, it is hard for me not to mention the Oscars since they were only a few short days ago. Now I have to wait a whole year for the next Academy Awards! I only live a mile and a half from the Nokia theatre and I got tickets to be on the red carpet this year! Walking onto the red carpet was surreal, but the incessant screaming at actors that proceeded approximately an hour later doused all the magic. Hopefully someday I'll actually be there, on the red carpet, not in the stands being instructed to yell at the stars. I also thought Seth MacFarlane was entertaining and put on a good show. Surprised but proud about Jennifer Lawrence. Disappointed that Joaquin Phoenix was snubbed for his stunning performance. Go Christoph and Go Anne! Anne Hathaway deserved to win even though I will never believe for a second that she was surprised she won. Surpised about Ang Lee winning director, and so happy for Argo with Best Picture even though I was rooting for Beasts of the Southern Wild. I could keep going, but at this point my Oscar ramble is late, outdated, so four days ago's news and what will keep my acting fire fueled for the next 360 days.
